Parish Records Melton Mowbray 1810 No 442. James Himan of Welby in this parish, Batchelor & Mary Durrance of Burton Lazars in this parish. Married by Banns 26th November 1810 by Tho Ford Vicar. Both signed by their X in the presence of Charles Smith & Robert Johnson. Charles Smith also signed as witness for another marriage on that day so may have been the Curate. None of the family of Bride or Groom seems to have been witnesses. Also other marriages at that time declared the brides as Spinsters or Widows but not Mary Durrance. Was this because she already had a child and therefore not considered to be a Spinster.
